It’s Tuesday, one day late instead of several! Progress. Between errands, working some weird hours, and a full-on Lord of the Rings movie marathon, time got away from me again.
Writing update: I’m officially at the hallway point of the first book in the Phlox & Possession series. Rafe and Lily are finally getting past all the pushing and pulling, mostly pushing on her end. I’ve been spending an obscene amount of time on this one freaking sex scene.
Which is hilarious because I’ve written erotica and that came easy. I think it’s because they’re short on plot and pretty much focused on the sex. But now that there’s actual plot, character, and emotional weight behind everything, the sex has to do something besides just… get people off. That realization turned a simple scene into a whole new layer of pressure I wasn’t expecting. Pretty sure I dealt with this before when working on Seen Once. Mine Forever. So yeah, I’m over here wrestling with Lily and Rafe having a whole different experience than Faith and Noah did, and given the length of time to write, it’s starting to feel like a personal offense.
Still, it’s moving. Halfway feels like real progress.
That’s it, all I have this week. I’m still sorting through cover ideas, title ideas, and how many times I need to go back and reduce the ‘scent/smell’, ‘sniff/inhaled’ bits because I took Rafe’s sensitive nose a bit too far.
